How do we give our opinion?

Healthy eating, safe play and proper care are extremely important issues related to caring for the youngest family members. In the maze of advertisements and among store shelves full of goods, it is often difficult to decide what is best for the child.

To help parents and guardians choose, we give opinions on products intended for children. They are distinguished by the logo of the Institute of Mother and Child or information on the packaging.

Who gives the opinion?

Each opinion is the result of the work of a team composed of specialists in various fields.

The Institute's experts include:

  • experienced specialist doctors,
  • nurses and midwives,
  • developmental age medicine experts,
  • research workers who work with young patients in the Institute's clinics and clinics on a daily basis.

Positive opinion - or what exactly?

A product with a positive opinion is completely safe for the child in terms of construction, workmanship, quality and raw materials used. It is also adapted to the stages of a child's development and supports its harmonious development.

A positive opinion is a triple guarantee of safety:

  • general
  • health
  • developmental

Opinion on products consists of several stages. The first is ... documentation analysis. We thoroughly check and analyze all product documentation, page by page. What are we looking at? The documents must contain data on:

  • compliance with standards and applicable law,
  • quality and origin of raw materials,
  • the production process,
  • the quality of the finished product.

To issue an opinion, we also need data on quality supervision over the production process - after all, we need to know under what conditions the product was made!

What is the feedback process?

However, documentation is not everything - we do not take anything on faith at the Institute. To get a positive opinion, the product is thoroughly tested and the manufacturing facility must be auditedthat our experts carry out.

What are our guidelines when issuing opinions? Opinions are based on:

  • current legal regulations in force in Poland and in the European Union,
  • medical standards and recommendations for infants, children, pregnant and lactating women,
  • guidelines of national consultants and scientific societies,
  • objectified research results.

After the theoretical stage, it's time for the practical part. Experts make sensory and organoleptic assessments. They are checking workmanship, strength, texture, smell and other important characteristics of the product. Then the product goes to application and functional tests with the participation of qualified medical personnel and experienced medical specialists. The final stage involves direct users, children and their guardians.

The results of the opinion-giving work are presented in the form of an opinion report that accurately describes the scope and methodology of the research.

A positive opinion is issued for a period of 3 years. Products with a positive opinion are marked with an information or the Institute's logo on the packaging and are subject to constant observation during this time. We consider and explain any possible parental reports.
