Swederm HUDSALVA Sensitive is a moisturizing and regenerating ointment, created for the care of dry, irritated and sensitive skin, from the 1st day of life. Its formula combines the action of emollients and strongly moisturizing substances, restoring comfort and supporting the natural protective barrier of the epidermis. It contains, among others: glycerin, lanolin, allantoin and bisabolol, which soothe, regenerate, normalize the skin microbiome and permanently protect against drying.

Swederm HUDSALVA Sensitive Ointment was created with the most demanding, atopic and dehydrated skin – for both infants and adults. It is fragrance and dye-free, which minimizes the risk of irritation – making it perfect for children and adults with overactive, allergy-prone skin.

Swederm HUDSALVA Sensitive Ointment is a Swedish product with a long tradition – produced since the 80s and successfully used in the care of demanding, dry skin of children and adults.

Stage I - Documentation assessment

During the first stage of testing the ointment Swederm HUDSALVA Sensitive canthe general and health safety of the product for the age group of users declared by the manufacturer was confirmed based on the assessment of the recipe and the documentation required from the manufacturer.

The subject of expert sensory evaluation were the product properties of utility and functional character influencing the user's developmental safety and suitability for everyday use.

The assessment has been carried out on product samples by a team of specialists in the field based on the knowledge and experience of the experts, guidelines from specialist consultants and recommendations from scientific societies. Each member of the team assessed the product on a scale of 1-5 in terms of the criteria listed below. Stage III - Application research

The purpose of the third stage of reviewing the ointment Swederm HUDSALVA Sensitive was the confirmation of the safety of use and the assessment of the product properties declared by the manufacturer during application tests.

The study involved 25 children (13 girls and 12 boys) aged 5 months to 13 years, along with their parents/guardians. Infants made up 16% of the study group. Two children were exclusively breastfed, and two received mixed food. Allergological interview showed that 7 children had allergies (food, inhalant). In 7 (28%) children, the skin condition before the study was very good; the skin was very well moisturized and without any signs of irritation. In the remaining 18 children (72%), the skin condition was assessed as good due to the occurrence of dry skin (83%) and/or itching (50%), irritation and redness (44%), skin sensitive (22%), diagnosed with atopic dermatitis – AD (22%), seborrheic dermatitis – DS (6%). The condition of mucous membranes in 20 (80%) children qualified for the study was defined as very good, in 5 children as good.

The study participants used the product for 28 to 40 days, with the majority (92%) using it for more than 30 days. The ointment was most often applied to the skin 7 times a week (92% of users), with only two children using it 5 times a week. It was applied 1-2 times a day to the face (40%) or usually once a day to the whole body (36% of study participants), buttocks (28%), abdomen (8%) or only to the arms (44%) or legs (36%).

During the study, the children's skin was observed for any adverse effects associated with the use of the product, such as redness, burning, itching, and other symptoms. The general condition of the children was also observed. The product's effect on the children's skin was assessed (moisturizing, softening, lubricating, anti-itching effects) and the product's functional properties, such as ease of spreading on the skin, absorption, film formation, smell, consistency, and efficiency. A 5-point scale was used, where 1 was very bad and 5 was very good. All observations from the study were recorded in the survey questionnaire.
