Ektopin balm is a specialist dermocosmetic, designed with the needs in mind dry, sensitive and atopic skin from the first day of the child's life. Rich formula based on ectoine, prebiotics and emollients works multi-directionally: moisturizes, soothes irritations, supports the microbiome and strengthens the skin's protective barrier.

Thanks to the synergy of ectoine and glycerin, the balm brings immediate relief and comfort for dry, tight skin. The presence of prebiotics, such as inulin and α-glucan, supports the skin's natural immunity and reduces its susceptibility to irritation and redness. Emollients, niacinamide and panthenol support the regeneration of the epidermis, rebuilding the hydrolipid barrier and restoring the skin's elasticity and softness.

Conditioner does not contain a fragrance composition, and its mild composition has been adapted to the needs of even the most sensitive skin. The product has been dermatologically tested - it does not cause irritation or allergic reactions, also in people with atopic dermatitis. It can be safely used by the whole family, regardless of age.

Scope of the Opinion

The aim of the study at the Institute of Mother and Child was to evaluate the product in terms of general, health and developmental safety of users.

During the subsequent stages of the assessment, the safety of the raw materials included in the product is checked, e.g. through a detailed analysis of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the product. The correctness of the intended age and functionality of the product are also verified, i.e. practical application and the degree of implementation of the product's functional characteristics declared by the manufacturer, as well as the level of user satisfaction.

Stage I - Documentation assessment

During the first stage of the study Ektopin balm with ectoine, the general and health safety of the product was confirmed for the user age group declared by the manufacturer, based on the evaluation of the recipe and the documentation required from the manufacturer.

A detailed analysis of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the product and the origin of raw materials was performed, including the results of tests from accredited laboratories confirming the safety of the ingredients used. The authenticity of the attestations and certificates of analysis in the scope of the declared product characteristics was verified. All aspects affecting the final quality and safety of the product have been thoroughly analyzed. The packaging documentation was also assessed.

Stage II - Expert sensory evaluation

The subject of expert sensory evaluation were the product properties of utility and functional character influencing the user's developmental safety and suitability for everyday use.

The evaluation was carried out on product samples by a team of specialists in the field based on the knowledge we had experts' knowledge and experience, guidelines from field consultants and recommendations from scientific societies. Each team member assessed the product on a scale of 1-5 in terms of the criteria listed below. The overall score obtained in each category is the arithmetic mean of the individual expert assessments.

I think that Ektopin balm is a good product with a fast, almost instant moisturizing effect and soothing itching and skin redness. It spreads well and absorbs, leaving a protective layer on the skin that protects against water loss and external factors. Its smell, caused by the addition of linseed oil, should be seen as an advantage, because the balm does not contain a fragrance composition that can cause allergies.

Stage III - Application research

The purpose of the third stage of reviewing Ektopin balm with ectoine was the confirmation of the safety of use and the assessment of the product properties declared by the manufacturer during application tests.

The study involved 25 children (12 girls and 13 boys) aged od 2. mIesilife to 15 lat together with their parents/guardians. During the study, the children's skin was observed for any adverse effects associated with the use of the product, such as redness, burning, itching, and other symptoms. The general condition of the children was also observed. The product's effect on the children's skin was assessed (moisturizing, softening, lubricating, anti-itching effects) and the product's functional properties, such as ease of spreading on the skin, absorption, film formation, smell, consistency, and efficiency. A 5-point scale was used, where 1 was very bad and 5 was very good. All observations from the study were recorded in the survey questionnaire.

Ektopin Balsam is an excellent product that perfectly cares for the skin. Thanks to its consistency, it is easily absorbed, leaving the skin soft, moisturized and smooth. The product is delicate, does not cause irritation, and the moisturizing effect lasts for a long time. Its subtle scent makes the application pleasant and comfortable.
