The SEYSSO Kids Dinosaur is a sonic toothbrush designed for the youngest users – children aged 3 to 7. With three modes (Clean, Soft, and Massage) and up to 70,000 sonic movements per minute, it provides effective yet gentle teeth cleaning. The aim of the study at the Institute of Mother and Child was to assess the product in terms of its overall safety, health, and developmental benefits. Stage I - Documentation assessment

The first stage of reviewing the SEYSSO Kids Dinosaur sonic toothbrush confirmed the general and health safety of the product for the group of users declared by the manufacturer, based on the documentation required from the manufacturer.

A detailed analysis of the product and the origin of raw materials was made, including the results of tests from accredited laboratories confirming their safety. The authenticity of the attestations and certificates of analysis held by the company in terms of the declared product characteristics was verified. All aspects affecting the final quality and safety of the product have been thoroughly analysed. Documentation of labels and instructions for use was also assessed.

Stage II - Expert sensory evaluation

The subject of expert sensory evaluation were the product properties of utility and functional character influencing the user's developmental safety and suitability in everyday use.

The assessment was carried out on product samples by a team of field specialists, based on the knowledge and experience possessed by experts, current research results, guidelines of field consultants and recommendations of scientific societies as well as applicable legal provisions and subject regulations.   

Each team member rated the product on a scale of 1-5 in terms of the criteria listed below. The overall score in each category is the arithmetic mean of the individual expert ratings.

Sonic toothbrush for children aged 3-7 years ensures both safety and effectiveness of tooth cleaning. Its design is ergonomic, with a smoothly profiled handle. The toothbrush is light and of an appropriate size, especially for children in the upper age range. However, for smaller children (around 3 years old), the handle may be quite thick. The brush tips are delicate, with soft bristles appropriately adapted to small children. The head size is small, which allows it to reach all tooth surfaces. Effectively removes plaque and supports caries prevention. All features, such as ergonomic shape, delicate bristles and friendly design, support both oral hygiene and the development of the child's motor skills. The toothbrush offers functions that facilitate learning proper oral hygiene habits: every 30 seconds, it suggests changing the brushing area. All elements are well-fitted, which eliminates the risk of swallowing small parts. There are no sharp edges, and the rubber finish near the head minimizes the risk of accidental damage to the gums or teeth.

The advantage is the "velvety" and anti-slip texture of the handle, which makes it easier to hold in the hands. The texture of the handle can be used for sensory stimulation of the lip and cheek areas. The moving element - the washing part - is firmly mounted on the handle and adheres closely to it, which increases the safety of use. The brush head has a rough texture - which is a great material for massaging, e.g. the tongue and can also be used for sensory stimulation inside the oral cavity. The product is structurally safe, made of certified raw materials. It does not pose a threat when used as intended, but it is worth remembering that it should be used under parental supervision, at least until the age of 5-6. The power port is mounted in the base and protected against getting wet. The brush head is attached stably, without the risk of detaching during washing. Sonic movements, programmed time intervals, various brushing intensity modes to choose from make it effective and comfortable in everyday use. The non-slip surface of the shaft, soft bristles and the games included with the brush increase the chance that it is comfortable to use and children will be happy to use this toothbrush.

Stage III - Application research

The aim of the third stage of reviewing the SEYSSO Kids Dinosaur sonic toothbrush was to confirm the safety of use and to evaluate the product properties declared by the manufacturer during functional tests.

Product samples were given to the children's caregivers, selected according to the product's intended use and study criteria. Twenty-five fully completed questionnaires for children aged 3 to 7 years ( 17 girls, 8 boys) were included in the final analysis. Most of the children participating in the study had not yet lost their primary teeth (72%, i.e., 18 people); in the remaining group (28%, i.e., 7 people), 2 to 6 teeth had fallen out . Nine study participants ( 36 % ) had medical education ( doctors, midwives, nurses , physiotherapists). Prior to the study, 13 children ( 52 %) used a manual toothbrush, and 8 children (32%) used an electric toothbrush . Seven children (28%) had experience with sonic toothbrushes . The study participants used the product as intended: a sonic toothbrush for children to brush their teeth , massage and stimulate their gums , and brush their tongues . During the study, teeth were mostly brushed by the child (80%, i.e., 20 responses) with parental assistance (76%, i.e., 19 responses). The product was used multiple times—usually twice a day, every day . Most participants used the toothbrush 30 times or more.

The toothbrush fits comfortably in the hand. The power supply method is convenient and above all, it rarely needs to be charged. The toothbrush fibers are soft enough not to irritate, but to clean. Added games and fun make the toothbrush more attractive, we most often used the toothbrush calendar.

The toothbrush has an ergonomic shape, in a nice color. It encourages the child to brush their teeth, the external material is very pleasant to the touch. The timer also came in handy, when the child brushes their teeth themselves, they know how long they have to brush. The toothbrush has not broken, has not scratched and has a very efficient battery.
