Product description

Rücken EGG, EGGE, UNO and UnoMe double-layer mattresses are made of two types of foam with different density and hardness. According to the manufacturer, the construction of the mattresses is bilateral. The products differ in size and shape, and their intended use – according to the manufacturer’s declaration – includes compatibility with selected models of strollers, add-ons and playpens.

The mattress core contains a layer of VitaRest® HR35 foam (marked in purple), which the manufacturer claims has antibacterial properties, and T25 foam with a wavy structure (white), described as harder. Both foams – according to the documentation – are characterized by flexibility and declared resistance to permanent deformation. The manufacturer informs that the differentiation of the layers allows you to choose the side with the appropriate degree of hardness depending on the child's body weight and stage of development.

The mattresses are made of AirPro ventilation duct system, located in the foam structure. The cover is made of materials with a breathable structure, including a 3D mesh, which - according to the manufacturer's declaration - is to support air exchange inside the mattress. The manufacturer informs that this solution may contribute to limiting moisture accumulation.

The mattress cover is designed as unzipped and removable. Its construction uses two types of fabrics: a material containing TENCEL™ fibers with a Hydro MAX coating and a breathable 3D mesh. The manufacturer indicates that these fabrics combine functional features related to durability and air permeability.

Scope of the Opinion

The aim of the study at the Institute of Mother and Child was to evaluate the product in terms of general, health and developmental safety of users. During the subsequent stages of issuing opinions, the safety of raw materials was primarily checked, e.g. through a detailed analysis of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the product. The correct age and functionality of the product were verified, i.e. practical use and the degree of implementation of the product's functional features declared by the manufacturer, as well as the level of user satisfaction..

Stage I - Documentation assessment

The first stage of giving opinions Rücken double-layer mattresses EGG, EGGE, UNO, UnoMe confirmed the general and health safety of the product for the user group declared by the manufacturer, based on the documentation required from the manufacturer.

A detailed analysis of the product and the origin of raw materials was performed, including the results of tests from accredited laboratories confirming their safety. The authenticity of the attestations and certificates of analysis in the scope of the declared product characteristics was verified. Stage II - Expert sensory evaluation

The subject of expert sensory evaluation were the product properties of utility and functional character influencing the user's developmental safety and suitability in everyday use.

The assessment was carried out on product samples by a team of field specialists, based on the knowledge and experience possessed by experts, current research results, guidelines of field consultants and recommendations of scientific societies as well as applicable legal provisions and subject regulations.

The dimensions and shape of the mattresses are consistent with the manufacturer's documentation. They were designed for use in popular models of prams, add-ons and playpens. Attention was paid to the careful execution of seams, zipper sewing and connections of individual layers. The cover was sewn from a fabric with a structure that supports air circulation and a smooth surface. The zipper was sewn in a way that limits its accessibility for the child. The cover, according to the manufacturer's declaration, can be washed at a temperature of up to 60°C. The manufacturer also indicates that the mattress has a double-sided structure, allowing for the selection of the usable surface depending on individual preferences. The individual sides of the cover are made of materials with different thermal properties.

The manufacturer indicates that such a construction allows you to choose the side of use depending on the expected degree of hardness. Stage III - Application research

The purpose of the third stage of reviewing Rücken double-layer mattresses EGG, EGGE, UNO, UnoMe was the confirmation of the safety of use and the assessment of the product properties declared by the manufacturer during operational tests.

Product samples were given to the children's caregivers selected according to the product's intended use and the study criteria. Final analysis was conducted 10 fully completed surveys for children aged first days of life to 12 month life (3 girls, 7 boys). The children measured from 45 cm to 120 cm, weighed from 3 do 11 Kg. 5 study participants had medical or similar education (2 doctory (neonatologist, orthopedist), 2 midwives, 1 nurse). Before starting the test 1 osoba (10%) hada experience with mattressykiem babyęcym.

The study participants used the product at home as intended. The product was assessed in terms of design, functional features and any adverse effects resulting from the raw materials used.

A 5-point scale was used in the survey questions, where 1 is very bad and 5 is very good. The respondents also answered open-ended questions. All study observations were recorded in the questionnaire.

The mattress fits the gondola very well, does not bend and has the right thickness. It is quite light, but also flexible, does not deform and adheres well to the ground. I like the difference in the hardness of the mattress sides, thanks to which you can adjust the mattress to the current needs of the child. A big plus is the possibility of washing the mattress cover at high temperature. The material is airy and soft to the touch, after washing it retained all its properties, did not shrink or damage.

The mattress fulfills its function very well, although it could take up a little less space during transport. It is made of skin-friendly material, the workmanship is of high quality.
