Week 32 of pregnancy has begun: which month is it?

If a pregnant woman has just informed you that she is in the 32nd week, and you are wondering which month of this blessed state it is, we are in a hurry to give you a hint. The 32nd week of pregnancy (31.1-32 tc) is the 8th month in which the expectant mother enters the middle of the third trimester.

Childbirth is just around the corner, so it's a good time to making an informed decision about which hospital the baby will be born in. Hospitals on their websites provide most of the useful information, so it is worth doing a thorough reconnaissance in the 32nd week of pregnancy. Of course, there are emergencies or situations in which the health of the future mother and / or child will determine the choice of a facility other than the one that the pregnant woman chose on her own. However, by the 32nd week of pregnancy, delivery is close enough that the final choice of the perfect birthplace for your baby will certainly ease the stress of delivery a bit.

At 32 weeks of pregnancy, information on hospitals will certainly also be provided by the Internet forum on many websites for parents. When reading opinions and comments, however, remember that every woman giving birth is different: she has her own preferences, requirements and character, which often determine her opinion about a given place of delivery.

32 weeks of pregnancy: expectant mother's belly and pregnancy ailments

The upcoming childbirth generates a lot of tension and stress in most pregnant women, so in the 8th month it is worth taking care of a lot of rest and relaxation. At 32 weeks of pregnancy:

  • make yourself warm compress on the loins (a hot water bottle will work);
  • listen to your favorite music;
  • rest with slightly raised legs (it will relieve puffiness).

Most women to limit their activity also force the feeling of fatigue and pressure on the diaphragm, which has less and less space due to the larger baby in the belly. However, it is not worth giving up the activity completely, of course, if there are no medical contraindications. Pregnancy - 32 weeks is a great time for leisurely walks, gentle yoga for pregnant women or light stretching exercises, which will also help relieve back pain.

If you are unsure how to be safely active, check with your physical therapist or ask your midwife about some recommended exercises.

A large belly at 32 weeks pregnant can also get in the way of daily chores such as shopping, cooking and cleaning. It is worth asking your partner, friends or immediate family for help.

32 weeks of pregnancy: the weight of the baby and mother-to-be

With delivery fast approaching, at 32 weeks gestation, most women are extremely interested in their baby's weight. The baby now focuses mainly on sleeping and gaining weight.

The baby is gaining weight about 150-200 grams per week, which is why the pregnant woman's belly grows very quickly. However, in the 32nd week of pregnancy, the baby's weight has certain norms and they are included in percentile grids, which are monitored by your doctor during regular examinations on an ongoing basis. During this period, the child weighs approx. 1850-2200 grams, and its body weight is strongly related, among others, to with genetic conditions.

If you are concerned about anything about your baby's development, always ask your pregnancy doctor for details. Many pregnant women care about the correct weight at 32 weeks of pregnancy. It should be mentioned that it depends on:

  • the woman's starting weight (just before pregnancy);
  • the diet she is following (a pregnant woman should consume only about 350-500 kcal more per day);
  • physical activity.

Many mothers ask on forums the question: "32 weeks pregnant, how much have you gained?". In the third trimester, women gain about 0,3-0,5 kg per week. It is a completely natural process that shows that your pregnancy is going well.

Positioning, positioning and repositioning the baby at 32 weeks gestation: how do these medical concepts differ?

The baby in the mother's womb looks like newborns born at term. He is only smaller and leaner, and his skin is still a bit more wrinkled than it was at the end of 9 months. At 32 weeks of pregnancy, the baby measures 43 cm, grows slower and slower, focusing more on weight gain (and sleep).

During this period, babies pee, swallow amniotic fluid, blink, smile and practice the suckling reflex by putting their fingers in their mouths. The intense movements of the baby at 32 weeks of pregnancy slowly calms down and this is a completely normal situation. The baby has less and less space in the stomach and less room to move.

Of course, if you do not feel your fetus move for several hours, are accompanied by increasing anxiety, severe abdominal pain and / or blood-stained spotting, be sure to see your doctor. At 32 weeks, the baby's movements resemble single "kicks", which mums sometimes describe as unpleasant (especially if the baby hits the ribs with his nudge). The little acrobat / acrobat in the stomach is still turning.

Position and position of the fetus

At 32 weeks of pregnancy, baby pose (that is, the relationship of the various parts of the body of the fetus to each other) is not of interest to future mothers as much as location of the fetus (determining the ratio of the long axis of the fetus to the long axis of the uterus, taking into account the leading part). The position of the child in this period may be in the head. The toddler will slowly prepare for the proper insertion into the birth canal. If the baby is still placed in the pelvis, calmly - it may turn around.

Fetal positioning

Another of the medical terms to describe the placement of a baby in the womb is positioning the fetuswhich determines how the different parts of the baby's body are positioned in relation to the walls of the uterus (e.g. the back facing the left side of the uterus).

A baby born at 32 weeks gestation: a premature baby who has a great chance of survival

Sometimes, emergency situations or the health condition of the mother and / or the baby cause premature birth at 32 weeks of pregnancy to surprise future parents. This can happen especially if you have multiple pregnancies. Therefore, it is worth being prepared for such an eventuality and pack a hospital bag for yourself and your little ones.

At this stage of pregnancy, the organs of the little man are almost fully formed, but the baby is not yet prepared for independent breathing. Therefore, a premature baby, 32 weeks pregnant, will require intensive medical care and stay in an incubator. However, it already has an almost 100% chance of survival.

For such a premature baby, the best food is mother's natural milk. She may experience problems with lactation, so it is worth consulting a doctor and a certified lactation advisor. Such a person is very often on duty in hospitals with gynecology and obstetrics and neonatal departments. A milk bank may also be a good solution.

Research at 32 weeks of pregnancy

In the period between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy, an important test is performed: third trimester ultrasound, which thoroughly assesses, among others, the child's development, its location, the capacity of the placenta and estimates the birth weight.

At 32 weeks of pregnancy, this very important test also allows confirm the age of pregnancy, especially if you have been diagnosed with inhibition of fetal development in the uterus, or placental insufficiency. Discrepancies in the calculation of the date of birth and the actual age of pregnancy may appear in women suffering from PCOS or menstruating very irregularly. The age of pregnancy is determined on the basis of the date of the last menstruation and during the ultrasound scan of the first trimester, confirming the date of delivery during the second and third trimester ultrasound. The thirty-second week of pregnancy is therefore the last call for this important diagnosis to be performed at the recommended date.

In the third trimester, pregnant women visit their attending physician approximately every 2 weeks. He conducts a standard medical interview, performs an ultrasound, examines the patient's blood pressure and enters her body weight in the pregnancy card. In the case of individual ailments, the doctor may also check the blood sugar level or order regular specialist tests. At 32 weeks of pregnancy, standard tests include: blood count and urinalysis.
