Can a woman afford such a unique form of pampering as massages, masks or hyaluronic acid during pregnancy?

Remember that for visits to the SPA salon, home privacy may also be an excellent alternative. In the following post, we suggest how to arrange a home SPA for pregnant women.

Homemade SPA during pregnancy: bathing in the tub

How about a hot bath? You can smile at the very thought, evoking nice associations. However, you must bear in mind that during pregnancy, the temperature of the bath water is really important. Big enough to forget about bathing in hot water for now.

All because too hot water can increase the temperature (overheating) of the woman's body or cause fainting. At this point, it may be dangerous for you and may even create a risk for your pregnancy.

Take care of the correct water temperature

However, this does not mean that you must definitely give up bathing in the bathtub. You can still arrange a substitute for a SPA during pregnancy by preparing such a bath. It is important that the water temperature is not too high. In practice, this means that it should be close to our body temperature, i.e. oscillate between 36 and a maximum of 38 degrees. Also, remember not to go from extreme to extreme. Therefore, do not pour too cold water into the bathtub, because you can catch a cold.

The best solution is to check the water temperature by measuring it with a bath thermometer. In time, it may be useful also for measuring the temperature of the bath water for your little one. Not so precise, but also a good way, is to check the water temperature with your elbow. The soft skin on this area of the body should help you determine if the water is adequate.

On hot days, when you want to cool down, bathing can bring you great relief. Then, the optimal water temperature may be a few degrees lower than body temperature (around 32 degrees).

Soap or emollient

When the water is ready, you should think about a bath product. Basically, you don't need to replace your current cosmetics unless they sensitize you and don't irritate your skin. However, there may be times when you need to take into account that currently your favorite bath gel, it may smell too intense. Therefore, make sure that you can use it before the planned bath. You can consider changing your traditional soap to an emollient, which is a gentler moisturizing and nourishing product.

Don't take too long a bath

Also, too long a bath may cause the entire procedure to have the opposite effect to the intended one. Therefore, try to keep your bathing time under 15 minutes. After a long time, instead of feeling relaxed and relaxed, you may feel tired and weary.

Be careful

Be sure to also take care of your safety. In the first weeks of pregnancy, it may not be too noticeable, but in the second and third trimesters, along with the enlarging belly, the body's center of gravity changes. Consequently, you may have a little balance problems. Especially during activities such as getting in or out of the bathtub, it is easy to slip, and even worse - fall. A good solution is to equip the bathtub with a special non-slip mat. Enter the bathtub carefully, and make sure that the floor is dry after bathing. However, it is best to put a bathroom rug or towel next to the bathtub.

Don't let your body cool down

After a warm bath, do not leave the bathroom immediately. First, dry your body with a towel and wrap yourself in a warm bathrobe. The difference in temperature between the bathroom and the rest of the room can be unpleasant after a warm bath, and even result in a cold. Therefore, also in this case, be careful.

Body lotion for pregnant women

For sure, being pregnant, you will feel a bit lost or confused more than once in the world of cosmetic products. You are trying to take care of your and your child's safety and you do not know what cosmetics you can still use on your skin. And yet, an inseparable element of such a home SPA during pregnancy should be body care.

Is every body lotion suitable for pregnant women?

When it comes to body care after bathing, it would be good if you look for emollients, which can also be found in the form of creams or body lotions, which are also suitable for pregnant women. Moisturize the body in quick succession after bathing. And as in the case of bath gel - pay attention to whether you tolerate the fragrance of the cosmetic. Nothing should disturb your relaxation while organizing a home SPA.

During pregnancy, it is also important skin care for the appearance of stretch marks. Due to hormonal changes taking place in the body, as well as gradual weight gain, at the very beginning of pregnancy, it is worth to start moisturizing your skin, even several times a day.

Moisturizing the skin has a positive effect on its elasticity, but it should be noted that there is no cosmetic for stretch marks with clinically proven effectiveness. They are associated with genetic predisposition and the rate at which you gain weight during pregnancy.

Stretch marks can appear in various places - mainly on the abdomen, but also on the breasts, thighs or buttocks, so pay special attention to these areas when taking care of your body. When looking for body lotions for pregnant women, analyze the composition of the cosmetic. Look for products containing vitamin E (tocopherol), panthenol, shea butter or folic acid.

Massage during pregnancy

Another pleasant element of a visit to the SPA is massage. When arranging a home SPA during pregnancy, you can also consider taking advantage of this form of relaxation. But first, there is a fundamental question to be answered.

Are massages during pregnancy safe?

If in doubt, consult your physical therapist, midwife, or gynecologist before getting a massage. However, contraindications to massage are not common. You should also remember about positions such as lying flat on your back or lying on your stomach, which are not recommended in this specific period. And what is important - do not forget that massages during pregnancy should not be too intense. Listen to your body, give up massages if they tighten the uterine muscle.

Prenatal massage

Waiting for the birth of a baby is one of the most beautiful moments in a woman's life. However, it is also related to body fatigue and physical discomfortespecially in the third trimester of pregnancy. With the development of the baby and the growing belly, you may start to feel muscle tension or joint overload.

It's worth considering an option then prenatal massage, which is the most recommended when it comes to massages performed during pregnancy. As the name suggests, it is dedicated to pregnant women. When performing it, gentle techniques are used. Also, the positions of the body during the prenatal massage are selected to ensure maximum comfort and body stabilization for both the woman and the child.

Face care: face masks during pregnancy

You are now in a special condition and deserve special care. You, your body and also your complexion. You should know that pregnant skin is extremely prone to dryness due to the increase in estrogen levels, which reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands.

One of the ways to nourish the skin are masks used during pregnancy. Remember that each mask should be applied to properly cleansed skin. Such a treatment will be perfect as additional care during a previously prepared bath. Especially that both heat and moisture contribute to the expansion of the pores of the skin, thanks to which the cosmetic applied to the face is better absorbed.

We have a whole range of masks available on the market. However, pay attention to the composition. Your skin, apart from the fact that it requires special care now, is also more sensitive than usual. A mask with nourishing and moisturizing properties will be a safe solution. For problematic skin with dilated capillaries, masks for couperose skin with soothing properties and reducing the tendency to redness are also recommended.

Hyaluronic acid in pregnancy

As for hyaluronic acid - it all depends on for what purpose and in what concentration you want to use it. It is extremely effective for sensitive skin on the face. Hyaluronic acid during pregnancy can help improve the condition of the skin, especially when used regularly. Products containing hyaluronic acid will certainly be useful when organizing a home SPA. These are primarily various types of creams with hyaluronic acid in the composition.

The expert advises:

During pregnancy, you should pay special attention to the acid concentration of the product. These natural creams that you will find in drugstores are usually also safe for pregnant women, due to the low concentration of acid contained in the product. In addition, if they have been positively reviewed by our experts, you can safely use them. However, if you want to buy a dermocosmetic available in a pharmacy, it is best to consult a gynecologist or dermatologist beforehand. These products tend to have a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, which is why you should check beforehand if you can use them.

Please note that hyaluronic acid also comes in other forms and may be administered differently. However, during pregnancy, hyaluronic acid in high concentrations, applied directly to the skin or in the form of fillers, it is no longer considered safe. Therefore, appearing under these guises hyaluronic acid, you should avoid it during pregnancy.

Remember that pregnancy is a time when you shouldn't forget about yourself. Pay a lot of attention to your body, eat healthy and balanced meals, rest and spend time outdoors. Your body will thank you. A cared for expectant mother is a happy mother.
