Dr Joanna Żółkowska

Dr. Joanna Żółkowska is a dietitian with extensive clinical and research experience, specializing in pediatric nutrition and the dietary treatment of metabolic diseases. Since 1995, she has been associated with the Institute of Mother and Child, where she worked in the Pediatrics Clinic and then (and still currently) in the Metabolic Diseases Clinic, supporting patients and their families in implementing specialized dietary therapies.

She graduated with a master's degree from the Faculty of Human Nutrition and Home Economics at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW-AR) in 1989. From 1989 to 1995, she worked as a researcher and lecturer at the university. In 2020, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Assessment of phenylalanine tolerance in pregnant women with phenylketonuria following a low-phenylalanine diet from the periconceptional period," furthering her expertise in the dietary treatment of phenylketonuria, including in women planning a pregnancy and those already pregnant.

She is a member of the Polish Phenylketonuria Society and the Polish Dietetics Society. She is a member of the Specialist Panel of the "Halo Atopia" program and expert panels on the dietary treatment of phenylketonuria. She regularly participates in national and international scientific conferences, giving lectures and workshops for specialists and patients. She has authored and co-authored publications in Polish and international journals.

In his work, he combines academic knowledge with clinical practice, focusing on safe, effective and individually tailored nutritional management for children and people with inborn errors of metabolism.
