Human nutrition specialist and dietitian working with the Department of Evaluation and Development of Cooperation at the Institute of Mother and Child; academic teacher and researcher

A graduate of the Faculty of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, she also specialized in human nutrition during her studies. Additionally, in 2010, she completed postgraduate studies in Clinical Research Methodology at the Medical University of Warsaw.

Dr. Joanna Rachtan-Janicka's research interests include activities that expand knowledge and develop skills and social competencies in the field of nutrition among children, adolescents, and pregnant and lactating women. She participates in dietary therapy for patients with celiac disease and those following gluten-free and other elimination diets, and also works on the prevention and nutritional therapy of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. She pays particular attention to the nutrition and dietary supplementation of pregnant and lactating women, as well as the importance of breastfeeding for infant development. She conducts scientific and research-development work on foods for special nutritional uses and dietary supplements, as well as the potential use of functional and bioactive ingredients in food production.

Joanna participates in educational programs on the principles of proper nutrition. She is a co-author of scientific and popular science publications on nutrition.

The doctor is a member of the Polish Society of Dietetics, the Polish Society of Nutritional Sciences, the Polish Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and the Polish Society of People with Celiac Disease and on a Gluten-Free Diet.
